A new toilet can completely transform your bathroom

A new toilet can completely transform your bathroom Although toilets are not a frequent topic of discussion, they are something we all need. The purchase of a new toilet is usually prompted either by reconstruction of the bathroom or a non-functioning toilet. When selecting a new toilet, we have a choice of three types. Wall-mounted toilets are very popular, but we can also opt for a combination toilet, where the lower part of the toilet is connected to the water tank or a stand-alone toilet with the water tank located in a concealed module. However, choice may be limited by certain technical parameters, to which you should pay close attention.

Bathroom customs around the world: Changing shoes to enter the WC or an absence of toilet paper

Bathroom customs around the world: Changing shoes to enter the WC or an absence of toilet paper A spotless toilet and regular cleaning are a given in the Czech Republic. But bathroom conventions are not the same throughout the world. Calling attention to these differences is the main goal of the annual World Toilet Day, held each year on November 19. According to the World Health Organization, more than 2.4 billion people still don’t have easy access to a toilet. The theme of this year's World Toilet Day is “poo journey”. The main idea is to draw attention to the “call of nature” and disposal of bodily waste, which ultimately impacts the quality of sewerage.

The anchor of every bathroom is the bathtub or shower stall

The anchor of every bathroom is the bathtub or shower stall When remodelling a bathroom, the unavoidable question is: “bath or shower?” While some people simply can’t imagine a day without a hot bath, shower enthusiasts can’t get moving in the morning without a proper shower. If you are among the lucky ones with a spacious bathroom, you can have both. But if you have a bathroom where every centimetre counts, it’s essential to make the right decision. You can solve the space issue with an ergonomically shaped bathtub or a corner shower stall. However, of key importance is the installation itself, which should be done by a professional.

Not even sultry weather impels some Czechs to shower more often

Not even sultry weather impels some Czechs to shower more often More often than at any other time, sweltering days make thoughts turn to a cooling bath. Some people even indulge in one several times a day, to wash away the sweat and refresh the body. However, there are those among us who aren’t impelled to jump in a shower every day, even in blistering heat. While dermatologists say that in winter it is best to bathe every second day, on hot days it is fine to cool down with more frequent yet shorter showers. JIKA, a leading Czech producer of bathroom ceramics and tiles, commissioned a survey to find out whether Czechs alter their hygiene habits during tropical weather.

Modern interior design trend: Large-format tiles

Modern interior design trend: Large-format tiles In the past, large-format tiles were used mainly to cover large spaces, such as commercial buildings or big bathrooms. A newer trend is to use this type of flooring even in smaller bathrooms, where, if chosen with care, they can optically enlarge the room. In addition to bathrooms, large-format tiles have found a home in the living room, kitchen and even bedroom. They look great both on the floor and on the walls. The biggest hit of all are ones imitating natural materials, especially wood and stone.

Every second Czech uses the toilet as a dustbin

Every second Czech uses the toilet as a dustbin A common habit in Czech households is to flush various types of waste down the toilet. According to a recent survey by the JIKA brand, the leading Czech manufacturer of sanitaryware, bathroom furnishings, and wall and floor tiles, Czechs most often flush down the toilet: dirty water after mopping the floor (80%), food scraps (52%) and hair (40%). However, frying oil, cigarette butts and even aquarium fish are not an exception. Yet none of it belongs in the toilet. Flushing can lead to (not only) unnecessary complications in the form of clogged or even completely blocked waste outlets.
